Bold Tendencies – together with its partner projects, Frank’s Cafe and the award-winning resident Multi-Story Orchestra –transforms its Peckham car park home with an annual commissioning programme of visual art. This year Mexican artist Isaac Olvera is making a new work, “Your image will be weathered but never taken away”, using giant natural hair wigs. Over time, the changing climate and weather will alter the composition, styling and hair texture.

The wigs have been made in Mexico City and their shape resembles the hairstyle of Natasha Fuentes Lemus (1974 – 2005), daughter of the Mexican writer Carlos Fuentes (1928 – 2012), whose family for some years lived in London.

This anecdote forms a historical axis whose associations reveal themselves through the sculpture and through accompanying stories written by the artist.
