Open City Docs is home to several projects in the world of documentary. Founded at UCL by Michael Stewart in 2010, Open City Docs is dedicated to developing and supporting non-fiction storytellers.

Some highlights from Latin America include Voices of the Sea (pictured), an emotionally charged film exploring the irreconcilable choices faced by the residents of a remote Cuban fishing village, as well as Baronesa, the Brazilian director Juliana Antunes’ astonishing debut follows friends Andreia and Leid as they navigate the perilous reality of daily life in the favelas of Belo Horizonte. At first glance, their days seem calm and untroubled, but the threat of violence is never far away and Andreia dreams of moving to the safer neighbourhood of nearby Baronesa.
