Tieta, The Trial is a dark, comic play, adapted from the Brazilian novel Tieta do Agreste by Nobel Prize nominee Jorge Amado. Through storytelling and live music, Tieta, The Trial takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster where fact and fiction become intertwined: A millionaire returns home after an absence of many years. Merely on the promise of granting the town millions, a depressed area turns itself into a boomtown. But there is a condition attached to the charity: justice. Is Tieta call for justice, a cry for revenge?

Tieta, The Trial highlights issues that are still as current and problematic today, ranging from poverty, wealth and greed to social exclusion and equality.
